Dearly Beloved ~ PROLOGUE

V O C A L O I D ~ F A N F I C T I O N

I must say, before I begin, that this is my very first Vocaloid fanfic'. I've been a fan only for a short while. And in this fiction, I've only reused the characters and invented an entirely new world and context for them to live in. I did not use the normal links that the characters have with one another in this, except for a few, but for the rest there are some things that might seem off or pretty odd to some people. Nonetheless, I do hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy writting it. And don't worry. If you don't quite understand what's going on, everything will be explained further along. :)

I would love to get some feedback on this... please? I want to know what you think of this guys, and if it's worth it to write some more... ♥

“NO !”

I screamed, I begged, but nothing had reach them. They still ignored my pleading, they refused to hear what I had to say. They had pinned me down on the ground, keeping me still, two pairs of arms holding me against the cold hard floor. My eyes were trained firmly on the one who made my heart beat like no one else ever did. I hated myself for this, I should have known better than to let this happen. Now she was circled by only people who wanted to hurt her, and I was powerless, I could do nothing to help her get out of this. I desperately tried to fight back those who kept me down, but their grip didn’t budge. I didn’t want to stay there and do nothing, I had to try something.

Anything.

“MIKU !”

I saw her turn around to look at me, her beautiful ocean blue hair swaying gracefully around her as she did. I instantly froze, completely stopping to try and get away from those freaks who prevented me from doing anything. I didn’t understand why but, at this precise moment, she kept a calm attitude. A soft smile stretched across her dreamy features. I could have sworn she had already accepted what was going to happen. But what was that…?

“Miku…” I murmured to myself, so softly no one other than me heard my voice.

My gaze changed from panicked to loving, and I kept looking at her as the minutes we had left were flying away with the breeze. But then, loud, heavy footsteps resonnated inside the immense room. It seemed like the person had to drag his feet a little to be able to walk. I was unable to look back to see who it was, but when the figure finally entered my vision, I recognized him. Because of his long, purple hair. And the wicked, sadistic grin he always had on his face.

“FATHER?!”

The word had come out by itself. Miku gave me a surprised and confused look, while the newcomer threw me an amused one. He swiftly turned around to stare Miku, walking closer to her and placing his index under her chin to make her look at him with her panicked blue eyes. The confidence she had shown earlier had seemingly… vanished.

“Tell me, my son, is this the pretty young girl you were willing to run away with?” he said in an amused tone, not even bothering to look at me over his shoulder.

I could feel the anger start to boil up in the pit of my stomach.

“Leave her alone!” I screamed.

Miku seemed to have become fearful of the turn the events were taking.

“You know, Son, your mother and I had already arranged your marriage to the daughter of King George. But…” He paused and ordered the two guards who stood by him to hold the young girl and immobilize her. “You had to meet this pretty girl. And she just couldn’t resist to come and mess up our plans.”

The two men who had pinned me down brought me back onto my feet again, forcing me to observe what my father was doing. I glared at him, my eyes throwing imaginary knives at him. He just walked around Miku and came to a halt behind her, unsheathing his long, gleaming silver sword, his sadistic smile still stretching his slim lips as his eyes glimmered in an insane manner.

“The poor thing. She probably will never know what happened to her. Oh well, she’ll probably never know, right?”

My beautiful Miku shot me a look that meant everything; I could clearly see how scared and confused she was. My eyes widened in horror as I saw my father lift his sword up above her head without her noticing. My gaze fell back onto her face. She had just enough time to mouth the words of the question ‘What's going on?’ before her own eyes widened in pain, a death scream rushing across her lips as my demon father’s insane smile turned into a satisfied one. He had pierced my beloved Miku’s heart.

My heart almost litteraly stopped beating. A tear dripped from her eye, and my father’s smile widened as he stated that his work here was done. He ordered the brutes that kept us still to let us go; me, intact, and Miku, my Miku, the princess of France, hurt, dying… She could barely stand, I could see it, and so I rushed to her side before she could fall. Her hands were pressed onto her bleeding wound as I wrapped my arms around her frail shoulders and laid her down gently, keeping her against myself as I held her lovingly. Already, she seemed to be so weak, and her blood still dripped rapidly from the wide open wound. Her breaths were irregular, difficult and unsteady, and she seemed to suffer so much… I was simply powerless, I couldn’t do anything to save her.

And we were alone in the room, and even if there was someone, no one would have rushed to Miku’s side like I did. No one would have come to help her.

I stared at the bleeding wound she had at the level of her heart. Her once beautiful, pure white dress was now stained in her own blood, her hands desperately trying to hold it all back. She bit her lip to keep herself from screaming. Tears started to trickle down my cheeks, falling onto the fabric of her sleeves. I held her tightly, closer to myself so she wouldn’t feel cold. Because I know what being this close to death is.

“Miku… I-I’m so sorry this happened…!”

My tears kept rolling down my face, I just couldn’t hold them back. My eyes closed themselves as dread and grief had started taking over my mind. But I felt something soft brush across my damp cheek in a comforting way.

“You don’t have to be sorry… It was meant to be.”

My eyes shot open. Meant to be? What did she mean by that?!

“How can you know!?”

“I saw it in a dream of mine, not too long ago… But that’s not the point.” She coughed loudly, drops of blood dripping from the corner of her lips along her face and falling onto her now red-stained dress. “Listen… this may be hard to believe, but… we’ll see each other again. In another life.”

She coughed once more. I could almost feel her pain like it was my own, and I could tell it was unbearable just by the way her eyes were glowing. I brushed a hand across her cheek softly, trying to reassure and comfort her.

“I hope so, Miku… I can only hope.”

She smiled at me in a reassuring way, trying to hide the pain. I could feel her life abandonning her being, withering away. The once strong, fierce and loving princess I knew was now dying, weakening by the second. I couldn’t resist, closing my eyes once again and leaning down to place a soft, tender kiss on her lips. She didn’t fight it, and even if she could have done so, she wouldn’t have. It might have been short, but I will always remember this moment, the one where I exchanged one last kiss with the woman I’ve always loved… and the only one I ever will.

I pressed my forehead against hers, heaving a sigh of disbelief. This couldn’t be happening for real. It had to be merely a dream. Tears still dampened my already reddened cheeks. I just couldn’t hold them in anymore.

“I love you, Miku, don’t you dare forget that…” I cried weakly, my voice so soft only she could hear it.

She forced one last smile, fighting to keep her eyes open. Her bloody hand reached for mine and held it tightly, caressing it lovingly with her thumb. More tears came rushing down my face as my blue eyes locked with hers.
“I love you too, Love.”

All at once, I felt her being lose its strengh completely, her head fell back due to the lack of support. Her eyes closed slowly. She wasn’t breathing anymore, and her heart had stopped beating.

The princess of France had died in the arms of the one she loved back.

Any thoughts about this ? Please, do give me some feedback, I DESPERATELY NEED- really would like it. ^^

So yeah, an idea that popped into my head for some unknown reason and that I still can't explain. I just thought of something and started writing this... some of my friends whom I've introduced to the Vocaloid fandom told me it was original and that seemed promising... I still don't know. I'm currently writing the second chapter to the story. But just so you guys don't get all mixed up (that is, if you continue reading this xD) I have to warn you: I've decided to put flashbacks in this fiction. So each chapter switches between flashback and present. If y'a don't get it, I'll explain it later in one of my journal entries.

Anywhoo, please do enjoy. :D
